It is lovely to see lakes “enclosed” by trees and shrubbery and as a keen angler myself I see it as a great shame to remove this much desired cover! But it is very important to allow wind to hit the lakes surface, in doing so it helps ripple the waters surface to create a bigger surface area and also helping oxygen dissolve into the water. In some cases It can be more effective than aerators.
We remove some of the shrubbery around the lake and in the surrounding woodland to create wind channels for the wind to easily travel towards the waters edge.
As a result, the dissolved oxygen levels become better and more stable.
